DRIVERS LICENSE

You have 60 days after establishing residency in North Carolina to obtain a Drivers License. If applicants have a valid license from another state, they must pass a written test, vision test and sign recognition test. Drivers must be 15 to be eligible for a learner’s permit, only after completing driver’s education. Drivers must be 16, have had their learners permit for 1 yr and have a driver eligibility certificate from their school that says they are passing classes and that there are no problems to obtain their license. The fee to obtain a license is $10-20 depending on the type of license, and can be paid in cash or check if you have a North Carolina bank account. You should also be prepared to show proof of automobile insurance.
